As a stay at home mom, I can say that personal indulgences are few and far between. For one, there's not much time. Secondly, that 'stay at home' part is a big change of pace for me and the hubs. Going from two incomes to one is a (doable, completely worthwhile) struggle. So, I have found little ways to relax that are easy, cheap, and best of all can usually be made with a few things you have hanging around in your pantry!

I'm going to share two different DIY sugar srubs that are not only easy on the wallet but that you can whip up in just a few minutes to keep in your shower or bathtub for something that really does feel like special treat!

After scouring Pinterest during the holiday season for some nice homemade gifts and experimenting, these are the final recipes I came up with and love to use. Feel free to adjust quantities to get a texture you'll love. Give them a try! I promise, your skin will thank you.

Warm Vanilla Sugar

BONUS: This one makes an ah-MAZE-ing shaving cream!!

Ingredients needed

- white sugar (1/2 cup)

- brown sugar (1 cup)

- coconut oil (1/2 cup...less if you like a really chunky scrub)

- vanilla extract (1 TBSP. Optional, really it just smells yummy)

Mix together, there isn't any special way. I like to make sure all my coconut oil lumps are blended well. Throw in a mason jar to keep by your bathtub!

Lemon Honey Sugar

Ingredients needed

-white sugar (1 cup)

- coconut oil (2-3 TBSP)

- honey (1/2 - 1 TBSP)

- Juice of 1 lemon. If you have the time, add the zest, too!

Just mix everything together, easy peasy! Since there is more liquid with the lemon juice and honey, adjust to your liking. Some like very chunky sugar scrubs so you can definitely play around with your amounts of sugar to get it just right.

*I really like this one because the lemon stands out to me on your skin after you use it and rinse off. This is currently by my kitchen sink for fresh hand washes!*

I have a few more combinations I want to try out and I'll be sure to post when I do. I hope you'll try these and enjoy the small things with me! What are some litle indulgences you like that don't break the bank?
